Norwich City are set to compete with Brighton and Hove Albion, Anderlecht and Genoa for the signature of PSG’s Samuel Essende according to a report from Goal.
Everyone now knows PSG because of the incredible amount of money they spend due to their Qatari ownership. But while that is very exciting for the fans as they get to see players such as Neymar move to their club, it can block youngsters from progressing into the first team as the club fill weaknesses by signing new players instead of looking to the academy. Chelsea fans can also tell you about that happening as many of their youngsters have left the club and done amazingly well elsewhere since the takeover from Roman Abramovich.
It’s because of that which is why Essende is set to leave the club. The 20-year-old striker was offered a new contract by PSG but he has turned down because he doesn’t seem himself breaking into their first team anytime soon. That means his contract is now expired with it ending on June 30th. And with several PSG youngsters becoming stars elsewhere, Kingsley Coman being the most notable example, many teams are interested in him.
Brighton, Anderlecht and Genoa are the most notable sides chasing Essende but they will be competed with by Norwich. Even with clubs in big leagues looking to sign him, Norwich believe that they can win this fight by showing Essende that he will be in their first team far more than he would if he signed for one of the other teams.
