Chido Obi-Martin has smashed Folarin Balogun's Arsenal academy record by scoring SEVEN goals against Norwich's Under-18s.

In doing so, the 16-year-old has broken the record for most goals scored in a single season for the U18s with 28 in total.

The Denmark youth international has been dubbed as Arsenal's 'next big thing' following his goalscoring heroics this campaign.

He found the back of the net ten times against Liverpool's U16s in a 14-3 win earlier in the season, before stepping up a level.

And he has made a mockery of the U18 Premier League with 28 goals - with 25 of his strikes coming in his last nine outings.

Balogun, who was sold to Monaco last summer in a deal worth £35million, was the previous U18 record holder for Arsenal with 25 goals.

He set that during the 2018/19 season, where he played in 19 matches as a second-year scholar.

In contract, Obi-Martin is still on schoolboy terms and has featured in four games fewer than the USA international.

Incredibly, the teenager has now scored at least a hat-trick for the fifth time this campaign for the U18s.

Meanwhile, Obi-Martin banged in four goals against Crystal Palace and Fulham, while grabbing five against West Ham earlier this month.

And he followed up his devastating form with five first half goals against the Canaries, before adding a further two strikes in the second period as Arsenal ran out 9-0 winners.

Arsenal fans have once again been quick to wax lyrical over the centre-forward, as one X user said: "This Martin-Obi might just be the next big thing!"

One then joked: "Who needs a striker when you have Martin."

Meanwhile this fan simply stated: "The future is scary, but not for us."
