They were sixth when John Eustace was sacked, with Wayne Rooney being hired.

A disastrous rest of the season followed and they got relegated to League One.

They beat Norwich 1-0 on the final day, but Blackburn, who are now managed by Eustace, managed to beat Leicester 2-0 to stay up.

Despite the result, fans decided to invade the pitch to commemorate/commiserate the moment.

One supporter grabbed a ball and managed to score from about 40 yards.

This sent the other fans on the pitch into absolute pandemonium, the most they've had to cheer about all season.

One fan on the video could be heard saying: "That's the highlight of my season."

Journalist Henry Winter said: "The owners have done a lot that is good, in terms of their development plans for the area. You can see the logic with that.

"The decision with Eustace, they were sixth and doing so well. Birmingham is not a Hollywood project.

"Rooney may go back into management, but it was a strange decision.
